The SEC released its final ruling on the volunary XBRL filing. The rules can be viewed at the SEC's XBRL site or check out the local listing.

Companies do not at this point have a consistant place that they offer xbrl files. Generally you can look around wherever they have their "Investor Relations" pages. If you want to work on code developemnt, in addition to the sec filings above you can check out some of these:

Microsoft:

Microsoft was a early implimentor of XBRL. Thier XBRL filings can be found in their earnings area. Well that's where they are today. They've moved it three times since I first posted it, have broken links and I'm not sure where they put the linkbase files. (email me if you need them, or better yet email their investor relations folks!) They have done a great job even extending XBRL formated quarteries back to 1996. Well if you want to screw with XBRL V2.0 files.

Reuters:

Reuters is an early implimentor but their xbrl reports are harder to find on their web site.
